"Hello Smash community,
I come to all of you with some rather sad news. A new policy limiting the guest to duquesne student ratio to 2:1 will be implemented and strictly enforced effective tomorrow. My night time boss has spoken to me on the matter, and has asked me to relay this message to you. Considering this new rule, and a rough average ratio of 20 or so non duquesne students to a max 3 (me Taki and Matt F.), we're getting kicked out. Consequences for more than the maximum amount of guests, or unregistered guests, will include being asked to leave, and should it follow that, public safety (duq cops) making them leave.
The reasoning behind said new policy is as follows: The budget for staffing, operating room equipment, and providing free soda/food/activity supplies is paid for by duquesne students. My night time boss has observed a considerable amount of non duquesne students reaping these benefits, and it has become cost inefficient to run the night spot as so. To remedy this, the 2:1 guest limit was created.
That being said, tonight I will email my daytime boss, of whom was closer knit in the decision making, and follow up with a meeting with him regarding the matter. In an attempt to maintain our community gatherings in the nite spot, I will make these points very clear: The smash community has no intent to disrupt normal nite spot operation, nor hinder the duquesne attendees from enjoying their time at the nite spot to the fullest extent. The community has been gathering since 2006 and has maintained a peaceful relationship between students and the building staff equally. To accommodate fluctuations in income/expense differences, the community will not indulge in free food or drink, and stay spacially excluded from night time friday crafts/activities, as well as surrender any TV that a duquesne student requests.
While we may lose our privileges in the nite spot, the commuter lounge is still open to any passersby. With the addition of a second TV, and the newfound ability to borrow TV's from the Information Center, we can still meet at duquesne for weekly gaming. Consider this a temporary alternative for this coming Friday, as I am sure my day time boss will either have to think about it for a bit or say no.
Bring cubes more than wii's, as the majority of TV's will be CRT in the commuter lounge. I hope this does not upset any smashers, I am but the bridge between customers and authority."
